Sharp MZ-2000 (inc GRAM I/II/III, Expansion Unit, Floppy Disk Controller, Box)
An original Sharp MZ-2000 computer, the successor to the MZ-80B. It has a tactile keyboard the same as an MZ-80A, same casing style as an MZ-80A and a fully APSS cassette deck. The machine is fully working after extensive servicing. The monitor had all capacitors replaced, the vertical driver IC replaced and correct adjustment to obtain optimum picture quality. The power supply RIFA capacitors and fuses were replaced along with several capacitors on the mainboard and GRAM board. The tape deck has had extensive work as it suffered a fate which is common to the MZ-2000/MZ-2500 machines where the pinch roller degenerates, the cogs crack, the lubrication dries to a powder causing jams and the 4 drive belts stretch and break. The tape deck is now fully working after addressing and fixing all the issues. The keyboard has been serviced using contact cleaner and all the keys work. The rear expansion cover is missing but isn’t needed as the MZ-1U01 expansion unit is installed along with an SFD800 floppy disk controller, MZ-1R13 Kanji Board and printer card. The machine is in very good order and comes with its original box (minus the polystyrene inners). The machine has the MZ-1R01 graphics expansion board installed populated with 3 banks of 16K RAM. This board allows external VGA (CGA compatible) output in full colour, see the example photos showing Mario Brothers and Cloud Kingdom. In order to test and use this machine with cassettes I have created 2 new cassettes, 1 contains BASIC MZ-1Z001 and MZ-1Z002, the other contains Games and Applications. Additional software is available for this machine on the web, for example google mz2000_flop or mz2000_cass from the MAME/MESS archive or look at the original sharpmz website. Tools for making up a cassette can be found on the original sharpmz website. Documentation such as the user manual can also be found at the original sharpmz website and on the web. In addition I have installed an SFD800 floppy disk controller a K&P SFD800 controller I professionally recreated, details on my website:- eaw (at) app which allows a lot more programs such as CP/M, TakeDos etc to be used. PLEASE NOTE – THIS MACHINE IS A JAPANESE 100VAC MODEL (Sharp never exported them) and as such you MUST USE A 240V to 110V step down converter. If you plug this machine into 240V it will explode, this is your risk. Included in the sale. 1 x MZ-2000, including an MZ-1R01 Graphics board, 3x16K RAM installed (full colour), MZ-1U01 Expansion Unit, SFD800 Floppy Disk Controller, MZ-1R13 Kanji board and Printer card. 1 x GOTEK floppy emulator drive with OLED, FlashFloppy v3.28 software and a USB drive. 1 x Original box (no polystyrene inners). 2 x Cassettes, 1st – BASIC MZ-1Z001/BASIC MZ-1Z002, 2nd – Games and Applications. 1 x 8pin DIN to VGA cable (requires a 15KHz compliant monitor such as the Dell P2214). 1 x 100V Mains Cable. Please be aware, this is a vintage item and although my experience of these machines is they are well built and reliable, things can fail due to age which is your risk. I will make a video of the machine fully working before despatch so you are rest assured it works as described before posting. Also, please note, this is a Japanese version machine (they weren’t exported) and consequently requires 100-110VAC mains power. You need to use a 240VAC to 110VAC step down transformer if you are based in the EU or a country with > 120VAC mains. Message me any preference, such as cheapest, quickest etc and I will accommodate accordingly. NB: EU – Some parcels are taking an. Amount of time to arrive due to the on-going politics. Please bear this in mind before ordering. The item “Sharp MZ-2000 (inc GRAM I/II/III, Expansion Unit, Floppy Disk Controller, Box)” is in sale since Wednesday, September 29, 2021.
